September 2017 Visiting Teaching Message: Of One Heart

It’s been a few months since I last shared a Visiting Teaching Idea, sorry, but today I am back and excited to share my September 2017 Visiting Teaching Idea with you. I love this month’s message. I love the message of unity, and after pondering it for a few days (maybe weeks), I finally had my idea for this month.

September 2017 Visiting Teaching Idea

As I thought about unity, I thought of needing each otherΒ and then I thought of ‘kneading’ like bread. I thought a cute mini loaf (or regular loaf) of warm bread would be a perfect Visiting Teaching treat for this month!

For this month’s tags, I created 3 simple tags to attach to your loaf of bread. I have a bread (quote) tag, another quote tag from this month’s message, and a tag that includes the ‘Consider This’ question. These tags can be printed onto white cardstock, colored cardstock, or kraft cardstock (pictured below). Since I wrapped my loaf of bread in a strip of brown paper, I decided to go with white tags.

For the first tag, I used a quote from Sister Marjorie Hinckley, “Oh, how we need each other” that Sister Oscarson shared in THIS talk. This quote was exactly what I was looking for, so I just changed the ‘need’ to ‘knead’ so that it fit with my whole bread gift idea. πŸ™‚

For mine, I mixed up some pumpkin bread and baked them in mini disposable foil pans. Once cooled, I wrapped the pan in plastic wrap. Then I cut brown paper into 3″ wide strips and wrapped it around the bread pan. I added some cute orange twine and tied my tags on. And that’s it!

Any type of bread would work with my tags, even store bought bread. If you’d like to use my tags for this month’s visit, just click the link below!
