28 Day Book of Mormon Challenge

At the end of May each of the auxiliaries in my ward were given a challenge. We were asked to read the entire Book of Mormon by June 28th. I knew it was going to be a hard task, but I tried my hardest to do the challenge.

I knew I needed something to help me track my progress and to help me know what page/chapter I should be on. I looked around on the internet, but didn’t see anything for 28 days…plus I wanted it to look cute. 🙂 I decided to create my own. As I searched on the web I came across this great bookmark and this great reading chart that gave me some inspiration of what I would like my bookmark to look like.

After working on it for awhile I finally got it how I wanted it. Here’s what it looks like:

I’ve had to make a few changes due to typos and missing chapters, etc. But I think it’s fixed and ready to go.

I ended up not completing the challenge. 🙁 I started at the beginning of Alma and was able to finish the Book of Mormon and got to about 1 Nephi 12. I was sad I wasn’t able to complete it in 28 days, but I was grateful that I completed the Book of Mormon from where I began. Before I actually began the challenge I knew it was going to take some time, but I thought…’19 pages a day, I do that all the time with novels I read, this shouldn’t be too bad.’ But it was a lot of reading! I knew I was behind by a few days, so I decided to listen to the Book of Mormon as I drove back from Utah one weekend. I was sure I got caught up…nope, I didn’t. haha

Even though I wasn’t able to complete the Book of Mormon in the 28 day time period, I still enjoyed the time I took to read it. My testimony was strengthened, and I grew a greater desire to read it. I’m thinking of trying again in a month or so.

Do you want to give it a try? Just print out my bookmark below using the links below.

There are 3 size options to choose from. Just click on the one you’d like to use.

I hope you enjoy my Book of Mormon challenge bookmarks and use them for your own 28 day challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

  1. I love this idea! I’m going to see if my 14-year-old will do it with me. We both read constantly. It would be great if we could put some of that reading time to better use. Thank you!

    1. Thanks Heidi for stopping by and for leaving a comment. That’s a great idea to get your older kids involved. My son wants one of the fancy scripture markers, so I challenged him to read the Book of Mormon for 30 days (not the whole thing though). If he does, he’ll earn a ‘fancy’ scripture marker. He’s pretty excited. haha

  2. On my mission we were challenged to read the whole Book of Mormon in six weeks. I did it then, and that’s the fastest I’ve ever done it. Like you, I am always surprised at how hard it is since it isn’t that much reading per day! I think I’ll challenge myself to do it in 28 days with your bookmark!

    1. Thanks so much for the comment Lara. I think I’ll give it another go in a few months, maybe when the kids are back in school. 🙂

  3. There was one time that my family read it in a week, out loud. It was crazy. We ended up reading in the car and everything. BUT at least we know that everyone in the family has now at least heard the entire Book of Mormon. There is definitely something great about reading the scriptures in a shorter time span. I love doing it every once in a while. Maybe I’ll try this one next month. Thanks for the idea and I love that you were honest.

    1. A Week! That is amazing. It was definitely a different experience reading quickly, one that I really enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. 🙂

  4. Every once in a while I enjoy reading quickly through the scriptures like this because I pick up on certain things more. The fastest I’ve ever read the Book of Mormon though is 60 days. 28 days would be tricky! The bookmark is a great idea for keeping track of your reading!

    1. Thanks for the comment, Montserrat! It is a different experience when you read through it quickly. I think I’ll have to try to do this more frequently. Glad you like the bookmark. 🙂

  5. I love this!! I’ve read the Book of Mormon through, but it takes me so long. It’s that Alma! It gets me every time. Right over my head. I’m going to print this out and take it for visiting teaching this month. I hope that’s okay. If not, let me know. I will print one out for my kids and me too.

    1. Thanks Kathleen! I know exactly what you mean. I love the idea of taking this to your VT sisters. I may have to do that. Thanks for stopping by and for the kind comment. 🙂

For four years as a member of the church, I have not yet been able to read the Book Of Mormon until it’s finished. I read many other church manuals. After reading your blog, I am interested in trying it too. Thank you for your partnership.
