December is almost here! Christmas is approaching fast and so is the usual holiday craziness. I cannot wait for Christmas this year because we are going to be spending it with my Mom and her Husband and my Sisters and Brother and their families. My Mother was kind enough to rent a home in Eden, UT for all of us to stay in & spend the week together. It’s probably going to be a little crazy (with all those kids running around), but it will be so fun and we will probably have a Christmas we’ll never forget. It has been a very long time since my family has gotten together for Christmas, so I am very excited for Christmas this year.
What are your plans for Christmas? Are you taking a big family vacation or enjoying a nice quiet, relaxing Christmas at home? Whatever your plans are I hope you have a wonderful Holiday season. 🙂
Now for Sharing Time
This is such a special theme this month. I love how they always focus on Christ during the month of December. It’s a wonderful way to remind all of the children the true meaning of Christmas. My children are at that age where they need that extra reminder. 🙂
I really liked the idea that was in the outline. So, I tried to stay with what they had and add a few fun games. I have shared 4 different ideas that can be used for this week’s Sharing Time and two of the four ideas came from the Dec. 2001 Friend magazine.
For the first game idea I shared a Present Pass game. Just place a scripture reference inside a box and wrap it in some Christmas wrapping paper. Have the children pass it around while singing a song and whoever has the present when the music stops gets to open it up and reveal the scripture.
For the second game idea you will need help from some adults. They will be dressing up as some of the Prophets from the scriptures. You will have presents with each of the Prophets names inside. A child will come to the front and choose a present and then unwrap it to reveal the name of the Prophet. The ‘Prophet’ will then come into the Primary Room and share the scripture/message with the children.
For the third game idea the children will be playing a Bean Bag Puzzle Toss. You will have a picture of the Nativity cut into puzzle pieces. On the back of each piece will be a scripture reference. The children will take turns tossing a bean bag onto a puzzle piece. Then you’ll read the scripture that’s on the back and put the puzzle piece where it goes.
I also gave another game option for this game.
For the Fourth game idea you will help the children discover some of the prophecies concerning Jesus’s birth by preparing a Christmas “Sing-a-Story”. You’ll read scriptures, sing songs, as the children learn about the prophecies of Jesus’s birth.
So there you go just a quick description of my Sharing Time Idea for week 1 for Dec. I hope you like it!
Have a great week everyone! 🙂
