2018 Primary Program Script

The Sunday of the Primary Program is one of my favorite Sundays of the year. Even now that I don’t have any children in Primary, I still love the Primary program. It is fun to hear the simple truths that the children of the church have been learning. Often those simple truths are just what we (adults) need to hear too.

I know that it is late in the year, and that most have already written their Primary programs. But there might be a few who were recently called into Primary or who haven’t finished writing their programs. Or they have their program written but would really like to see another program. Well…may I present our version of the primary program.

2018 Primary Program Script

This year’s theme is “I am a Child of God.”  I have followed the monthly themes and song choices through August. You are welcome to add September through December themes as well.

2018 Primary Program Script

Songs: You will notice that I included the words to the songs. A few years ago when I was the counselor in charge of the program, many of the teachers asked for copies of the songs. We tried several things and found that it was easier and less distracting to have the words written in the program for them to refer to. But if you don’t like them in the program, you can delete them.

Narrators: I assigned the 11 year old boys and girls to be the narrators but you can change that to fit the needs of your Primary. Some themes/topics have 2 narrators and some only have one. If you want less narrator lines, combine some of the sentences so that only one narrator says all of the lines for a theme. If you would like more narrator lines, feel free to divide them up to create more lines.

Classes: I have assigned each class a theme to speak about. In most cases, I only included 2 or 3 children in each class so you will need to add more lines so that each class member is included. For the CTR 6 class, I included 2 options. You can choose to use either “I am thankful for the priesthood” or have the children share stories of when the priesthood has blessed them. Or you can do a combination of both and have some children say why they are thankful and others share a story.

Different Options for CTR 7

I have included two versions for the CTR 7 class. In the first version, there are no narrators. I have included 7 ideas of things the children can say. You can once again decide what works best for your primary. In the second version, there are two narrator lines and then the children can share stories of when they were baptized or confirmed, when the Holy Ghost helped them choose the right, or what the sacrament means to them.

You can download a copy of the Primary Program below. We have saved the file as a word document so that you can edit it as you need.

  1. Hey!

I love this and I would to know if you are doing a 2019 Primary Program Script. I love all of your work!

    1. Hi Savannah. I have been a little absent on my site lately. I’m not sure if I will be sharing a Primary Program script, but I will see what I can do. 🙂 Thanks so much!

        Hi SHeena,
I have the same question as Savannah!!? I was just called as primary secretary and have been given the assignment of writing our primary program. I’m completely at a loss and was hoping I could lean on the creativity of those who have already done this and have more experience.

        1. I haven’t started on a script yet, but I have seen a few people share one on the Primary Presidency Facebook group. I will try to write one, I just don’t know when it will be done. 🙁 Sorry!

Oh, no worries at all! I’ve never done this before, and was feeling lost. But through lots of prayers and maybe some good luck.. I finally got the ball rolling. I feel like I’m headed in a good direction!! We’ll see when it all comes together in september hahah!
