General Conference Quote Jars

A couple weeks ago I saw an idea for an ‘LDS General Conference Quote Jar’. I really liked the idea, and it was similar to another idea that I found a few years ago called ‘Conference Preserves’ that I shared about here. I LOVE the idea of writing/typing your favorite quotes and placing them in a jar to read over the next 6 months. Each day for the next six months, pull a quote from the jar and ponder what it teaches. Keep a journal of what you learn. The idea was shared on the Youth page, but I think ANYONE could benefit from doing this! After seeing the General Conference Quote Jars on, I thought it would be fun to create an LDS General Conference Quote Jar Kit for anyone to use. Enjoy!

General Conference Quote Jar

Here is what you will need to create your very own LDS General Conference Quote jar:

•A Jar

•My General Conference Quote Jar Kit (FREE Printable!)

•Colored Cardstock or paper

•Sticker Paper (optional)

•Scissors or a paper cutter

•Pens, colored pencils, gel pens, etc.

LDS General Conference Quote Jar:

First you will need to grab all of your supplies, and print out my General Conference Quote Jar printables. Print the second and third pages onto colored paper or cardstock, and print as many copies as you’d like.

Then, print the jar label (pg. 1) onto sticker paper, and then cut out your choice of label (there are 6 per sheet; 3 different border styles).

Once you’ve got your label cut out, you can go ahead and stick that baby onto your jar!

If you don’t want to mess with sticker labels, no problem, just print the labels onto normal paper and simply add tape to the back of the label and attach it to your jar.

My jar was a more decorative jar, but I know you can find smooth jars at Wal-Mart (at least they used to have them). But even if you can’t find smooth jars, the sticker will still adhere just fine. 🙂

Once you’ve got your label on, you can get started on the cards. This is where a paper cutter would come in handy. It makes cutting go by so much faster!

This would be a great YW activity for this week or the week before General Conference. Have each of the girls create their very own jar, and get it all ready for General Conference. You could have them cut out their label and cards, and then have them place them in their jar. Hand out a couple fun pens or pencils and then encourage them to listen to General Conference and write down all the wonderful quotes that they hear over the weekend.

Whether it be your creating your own General Conference jar, YW, or your family…once you have written down your quotes, fold them in half and stick them in the jar.

Pick a card a day and read the quote. Think about the quote and record your thoughts and feelings in a journal OR discuss it with your family.

Who Can Use a LDS General Conference Quote Jar?

Who COULDN’T use a General Conference Quote jar??? These would be great for personal use, family study, FHE, YW, Visiting Teaching, just to name a few.

This would also make a GREAT gift for a friend or VT. Get a jar and get everything ready. Slip the empty cards into the jar and then tie a pen to the jar. Add a cute little note with the jar explaining what it is and what to do.

Would you love to create your very own General Conference Quote jar? Maybe the Youth in your ward would like one? I would love to hear what you think, and if you create your own. You can use my FREE printables (link below) or just use plain slips of paper.

I hope you enjoy my kit idea, and are able to use it. I would love to hear if you create one AND I would love to see a picture. If you follow me on Facebook you might have seen that I now have an Instagram account for my blog, so snap a picture of you with your jar or your YW with a jar and tag me, so I can see it!

.Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day.

  1. I love this! I think it’s so important to keep reviewing what was said in conference until the next one. Thanks!

  2. Marivett

Hi Sheena!! Your idea is wonderful!! Thanks!!

  3. Kim

Such a fun idea!! Always looking for ideas to keep the kids engaged 🙂

  4. We do this at dinner. We pick one and ask a question about it so we’ll discuss it. Thanks for your printables. I love that you can just add your quotes to them.

  5. Hi there, I loved your idea, and used it with the girls in my ward, and they loved it!!! Do you mind if I translated this idea to Portuguese and posted it on my blog?

    1. Hi Carol! I am so glad you enjoyed the idea. Of course you can share it on your blog. I just ask that you have a link for the printables that directs them to my blog. 🙂 Thanks.

  6. Emilie

Hey Sheena! Been loving your page so much over the past year as I’ve jumped from Primary and just barely entered young womens! Totally doing conference quote jars this week for mutual, but am curious where I can find the page of labels that include the “Conference Quote Jar” words! Your font typography is just so dang cute, but whenever I click on the free conference quote jars printables, it’s just two pages of blank cards and no jar labels! If I could somehow get ahold of the label with the words inside I would be in heaven! Thanks for all you do!

    1. Hi Emilie! Thanks so much for letting me know about the labels. I must have uploaded the wrong file. I just uploaded the correct file, so you should be able to print the labels as well as the 2 sheets of cards. 🙂

  7. I LOVE this idea! I’m looking for more ways to keep General Conference alive until the next one 😉 I love the idea someone posted of using this for family dinner discussions – great idea! Thanks!

    1. Thanks, Melanie! Glad you like the idea. 🙂
