LDS Ward Valentine Activity: Printables & Ideas

Does your Ward have monthly activities? Maybe every other month or once a quarter. I think activities are so fun, but they also serve a purpose. Ward activities can bring the Ward members closer together, it shows support for those putting on the activity, and it’s also a great time to spend time with your family and participate in wholesome family activities.

Our Ward Council has decided that this year we would try to have more Ward activities, and for our first of the year they have decided to have a Valentine’s Dance. Last week the Primary President came up and shared the news, and then informed me that I was in charge of invitations. ūüôā Yesterday I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted to do for the invitation. I poked around¬†Pinterest and the internet looking for inspiration, but came up empty handed. I started creating, and then ended up deleting my first attempt.¬†I finally came across THIS cute invitation¬†and decided to get to work creating my own version.

I am really happy with how they turned out.¬†Now I just need to print them. I’m planning on printing them at a local printing place on a thicker paper (2 per sheet). Then I’ll just cut them and have them ready to go for Sunday.

Is your Ward planning a Valentine’s¬†Dance? I am sharing my invites (2 great options to choose from) as well as some fun¬†ideas you could use for your Ward Valentine activity.

First, let’s talk about the invites! To use my invites just download below and then¬†add in your info.¬†Need help knowing how to do that? Check out this post, where I shared a tutorial on editing invites.¬†

If you don’t want to mess with editing it, I would love to help you out. I charge a small fee of $2.00 for editing, just email me at littleldsideas{at}hotmail{dot}com with your info. ūüôā

LDS Valentine Ward Activity Ideas

You’ve got the date set, the invites, but what about activities!?! Here is a list of some fun activities and games you could have at your dance. Enjoy!

Cookie Decorating for the Kids

The Primary President told me that we would be having a sugar cookie decorating station for the kids. BUT to help prevent messes and germs from spreading, we are planning on having the¬†frosting in small cups with popsicle sticks to help spread the frosting. And you’ve gotta have fun sprinkles and candy as topping options as well! Each child can grab a cookie and a cup of frosting and frost away!

Having the frosting in cups instead of the frosting canisters helps prevents germs, my Primary President learned this the hard way in her previous ward. She told me when they did this the kids kept licking the fingers (or knives) and then putting them back into the frosting. That Sunday half of the ward was out due to a stomach bug. OH NO!

You could even place the frosting in a bag and squeeze a glob onto each cookie right before the dance. Then have the cookie on a plate with a popsicle stick and a cup of sprinkles. Easy Peasy!

Selfie Station

Weird little fact about myself…I kind of dislike the word ‘selfie’! haha Just ask my son, he thinks it’s pretty funny. But you’ve got to have a creative name, so I’m getting over my dislike and sharing this idea and name. Instead of a Photo Booth, and having someone tied down taking pictures of everyone, have a ‘Selfie Station’. Have a cute backdrop (I’ve seen really cute ones on Pinterest using plastic tablecloths, or streamers), signs, props, and you’re good to go!

Here’s a great sign I created that you can use. Just download (just click on the image to download) and then have it printed. I looked and found that you can have this sign (12″ X 18″) printed at CostCo for $3.99!

With a Selfie Station you are in charge of your own photo, so that means you can stop by anytime, snap a pic and have it right away! AND by doing a Do-It-Yourself photo booth everyone can enjoy the main event…the dance!

Kissing Booth

Since it’s a Valentine’s dance, your party wouldn’t be complete without a ‘Kissing Booth’. Woah! Not THAT kind of kissing booth, though! ūüôā This is a fun ‘Guessing Game’ activity that you can use, and will be a hit!

All you’ll need is a small table, a jar filled with Hershey Kisses, pencils, and answer sheets (printable included!). Create a sign that says ‘Kissing Booth’ and then invite everyone to stop by and guess how many Kisses are in the jar. The person to have the closest guess wins the jar of kisses.

Dance Activities

Line Dances: There are so many fun dance activities that you could do! You could have everyone join in and do the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance, YMCA, Cotton-Eyed Joe (LOVE this one), the Limbo, Electric Slide, any of those great dances would be fun and would hopefully get everyone dancing.

Dance Lessons: Does anyone in your ward know a specific dance (ballroom, salsa, etc.). Invite them up for a song and have them show off their talents. Then have them show everyone a few steps or tips.

Freeze Dance: One of my kids’ favorite dancing games is ‘Freeze Dance’. Have everyone dance, but when the music stops you have to freeze. If you’re still moving you’re out!

Have a Dance-Off! Have the bishopric be the judges and play a song that everyone knows (like the ones I listed above) and have the judges pick the best dance.

Award the winner with some kind of yummy prize. I’ve made Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals out of Bubble Tape gum. Just cut out a circle from some gold scrapbook paper and attach that to the front of the gum. Then add a ribbon and a ‘1st Place’ on the front and you’re good to go!

Daddy/Daughter or Mother/Son Songs: Have the DJ announce Daddy/Daughter or Mother/Son dances and invite all the sons, daughters, Mom & Dads onto the dance floor!

There are so many fun activities you could do to have a good time. Get creative and make it fun, and it will be a blast!

I hope you enjoy my printables I shared today as well as the ideas. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day.
