Hey y’all! It’s Mary back again for the Little LDS Ideas Creative Team! Mother’s Day can be such a stressful time for Primary Choristers! You spend months planning a musical number for Sacrament meeting and then you still have to come up with a singing time idea! That’s why I came up with this Mother’s Day Singing Time Idea for you. I’ve done variations of this for a few years and the kids always love it! Use the printable in this post to plan the most fun and easy Mother’s Day Singing Time you’ve ever had!

Print out the short questionnaires included in the printable and distribute them to the mothers in your ward a few weeks before Mother’s Day. (Bonus: You get to visit Relief Society and YW! A break from the primary room!) Tell the moms that you’ll be playing a game with the kids on Mother’s Day and that you need this information so they can try to guess whose mom it is. Write your name at the top so they know who to return it to! I always put my phone number, too, and tell them that they can text me a picture. That way no one has to track you down!
On Mother’s Day, take out your papers and tell the kids that they’re going to learn more about their moms today! Pull out one of the papers and read their mom’s answers (except for their name and their children’s names!). When they guess whose mom it is, everyone will sing that mom’s favorite primary song!
.
If the kids are getting wiggly, a great way to incorporate movement with this activity is to have all of them stand before you start reading the information. Then, when they know it’s not their mom, (their mom was born in Florida, but this mom was born in Nevada) they should sit down. It builds anticipation for the kids who are still standing and thinking it might be their mom!

I love this idea so much! Is there any way you could make one for teachers? I have so many teachers that don’t have Primary children. I’d love to have a special Teacher Appreciation singing time just for them.
Great idea! I will ask Mary and see if she could make one for the teachers. Thanks!
I love that idea! I’ll definitely make one for my May post! It’ll be too late for the official Teacher Appreciation Week, unfortunately, but it’ll still be a fun activity! Thanks for the idea 🙂
