Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower Card

A couple weeks ago the Primary President and I were discussing a Mother’s day craft that the children could do on Mother’s Day. We were bouncing ideas off of each other, and then turned to Pinterest, what did we do before Pinterest?!? haha We came across I Heart Crafty Things’, adorable Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower Cards. We LOVED the idea, and thought they were so cute, so we decided that’s what we would do. I told her that I would get to work creating the cards that we would be putting the ‘flowers’ on. I am so excited to do this on Sunday!

Mother's Day Craft Ideas for Kids

I decided to create a two sided card. One side includes this quote:

“A Mother is like a flower; each one beautiful & unique.”

And the other side has a questionnaire for the children to fill out, and a place to write their name. You can print the card with both sides or just the flower side. 🙂

I tested this little craft out with my daughters yesterday. They LOVED it! They probably would have used all of my cupcake liners if I had given them the chance. haha

Here is what you will need to create your very own Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower card!

To create your own Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower Card, you will need:

Cupcake Liners (I bought a set from Amazon & picked up some others at a local store)

My Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower printable

• Cardstock (white or kraft & green for the stem)

• Buttons (optional)

• Glue Stick

• Scissors and/or paper cutter

• Green Crayons or markers

If you’re doing this for a large group, like Primary, decide what kind of stem you will having the children create. You can have strips of green cardstock for the stems and then cut out small leaves or use 2 green buttons for a leaf. You could do green buttons for the stem and leaf, or you could go the easy route, and simply use a green maker/crayon and have the children draw their stem and leaf.

Next, print out my Mother’s Day Cupcake Flower card. If you are doing the double-sided version, simply print out one side, and then flip it over and print the other side on the back. Then, cut them out!

How to create your Mother’s Day Cupcake Flowers

Alright, now it’s time to get crafting! This is such a fun and easy craft, perfect for children! Here’s how to create your Mother’s Day cupcake flowers.

One more thing before we get started…if you are doing the questionnaire as well, have the children fill that out first, and then create their flowers. 🙂

Mother's Day craft idea

Pick out the 3 cupcake liners you would like to use. Once you have picked out your 3 cupcake liners, decide which order you would like them.

Primary Mother's Day Craft Ideas

Grab the cupcake liner that will be in the very back, and flatten it out. I love these cute little chubby hands from my adorable helper. 🙂

Once the cupcake liner is flattened, rub a little glue onto the center of the cupcake liner (inside of the liner), and then place it on the card.

Grab the cupcake liner that will be the second layer, and flatten it and fold it in half.

Mother's Day gift ideas

Grab your scissors and trip a little off of the edge. This will make the second cupcake liner small enough to see the one behind it. When you have trimmed it all around, flatten the cupcake liner, and rub a little glue into the center. Then, press the second liner on top of the first one.

Grab the last cupcake liner and repeat by trimming and glueing on top of the second liner.

Mother's Day Questionnaire

Finish the flower by adding a stem and leaf. You can do this with cardstock, buttons, or crayons/markers. You can also add buttons to the center, but for those Moms that like chocolate, you could always add a tasty little treat. 🙂

  1. Bonnie

I am having a hard time getting the second page to print. It just prints a blank sheet. Any ideas? Thank you for this great card!

    1. I’m so sorry that I didn’t respond sooner, Bonnie. I’m not sure why it would’ve printed blank. I hope it ended up working for you. 🙂

  2. Brooke Bolyard

I am having trouble printing the Mother’s day card. Is there any way you can email it to me?

    1. I’m so sorry I didn’t respond sooner, Brooke! This weekend was crazy for us. I hope you got something figured out.

  3. Khendra

I am trying to print this wonderful idea to have my primary kids create for Mother’s day and the printer would like a release from you to say I can copy it. Is that possible or do you not allow that to be done?

    1. Hi Khendra! Yes, you have permission to print. 😊 I’ve had a few printers recently email me, so maybe I need to include a little “print release” paper with my printables. Thanks so much!

  4. Lauren Zoeckler

I would love to use this but it will not let me print this! Can you please email me it! Thank you for sharing!
