Hello! Natalie here with a message and a printable study guide for you to provide Help in Receiving Personal Revelation.
President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has recently stated, “In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”
Our relationship with the Holy Ghost is vital in keeping us spiritually safe. Yet we often treat the gift of His companionship as a secondary option to the opinions of the world. We assume an Internet search or a blog post can solve all of our problems.
In today’s world of instant communication, we often seek the ideas, thoughts, and counsel of other people before we take our cares to the Lord. It’s much faster to vent about a situation on the Internet and then ask, “What should I do??” than to prayerfully and patiently entreat Heavenly Father for personal revelation on the matter. It can be hard to break the expectation that all of our wonderings should be solved after one, singular search. But we need to try, especially as we seek for greater personal revelation from the Holy Ghost.
Help in Receiving Personal Revelation
Prophets, apostles, and other leaders of the Church have given meaningful counsel on how to truly receive personal revelation. Their words are filled with wisdom and love. They are inspired by the desire of our Heavenly Father to speak to each of us individually. He wants to pour personal revelation upon us. We need to learn how to be able and ready to accept this precious gift.
I have created a study guide that can be paired with most talks and scriptures that focus on receiving personal revelation. I would suggest completing the Personal Revelation Assessment I created before starting your study. This assessment can help you figure out what efforts need to be made to improve your ability to hear and heed the voice of the Spirit.
To begin your study, select a talk or set of scriptures. Read through the material once or twice to ensure understanding and invite the Holy Ghost’s help. Then take the provided study guide and use it to direct what to look for, ponder, and pray about. It is key to keep communication open between yourself and heaven. This looks different for everyone. It may be formal prayer, inspirational music, service, talking with a friend or spouse about your study, going into nature, reading uplifting books, or something else. Whatever it is for you, make time for it. Revelation will come when you are open to receiving it.

President Nelson invites, “I urge you to stretch beyond your current spiritual ability to receive personal revelation, for the Lord has promised that ‘if thou shalt [seek], thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things – that which bringeth joy, that which bringeth life eternal.'”
Make the effort to seek personal revelation. Heavenly Father wants and will speak to you. He will answer questions, prompt actions, and provide comfort through the Holy Ghost. I hope these materials can aid and encourage you to keep the Spirit near you and bless your life.
