All of the speakers in church yesterday were amazing! One in particular stood out to me, and here is why.

This wonderful sister talked a little bit on joy and how she has noticed that “joy” has been mentioned more frequently during recent General Conferences.

She mentioned that last General Conference the word “joy” was mentioned twice as much compared to April conference. And “joy” was mention three times as much in April 2019 as the time before that.

I sat there pondering what she said. Why are our leaders mentioning joy so much more?

There is so much fear, doubt, chaos, and unhappiness in this world. There are so many people out there searching for happiness with no clue where to find it.

I believe we need the reminder that we have access to joy, peace, and happiness. It is so easy to get distracted, to loose focus, to loose that joy we once possessed.

I know that when I am focused on Christ, my life is filled with more joy. I think it would be difficult not to be happier when are thoughts and actions are focused on our Savior.

I also believe I am happier because my faith in Him is stronger and believe that whatever comes my way I can get through it with His help.

Take a moment today to ponder what you can do to center your life on Christ. It could be as simple as listening to church music instead of other music, or listening to a talk. As we do little things to center our lives on Christ, we will begin to feel that true joy that Elder Maynes mentioned.

I don't want to bombard you with posts about our upcoming SEEK Retreat, but I am just so excited!

It is just a little over a month away and I have been busy checking things off my to-do list. I am so excited to gather together with like-minded women (and a few men 😉) and be uplifted and spoiled.

One of the things I have been working on is a SEEK t-shirt that will be going into every swag bag. I will be ordering these today or tomorrow, so if you've been thinking of coming to our retreat now is the time to register so you get the size you want. Yes!!!! President Nelson also said: “There is nothing easy or automatic about becoming such powerful disciples. Our focus must be riveted on the Savior and His gospel. It is mentally rigorous to strive to look unto Him in every thought. But when we do, our doubts and fears flee.” True, again. It is hard to stay focused on Christ in this very distracting world, but I have seen a difference in my life when I take the time to seek Him daily my life is filled with more joy and peace.

Does it mean that I have no trials or struggles? Nope, but when I am focused on Christ I can feel the power that President Nelson mentions in this quote. I believe in Him and His plan for me. And I know as I put my faith and trust in him, He will help me.

This is what I have been working on today... the SEEK Workbook.
.
I have been thinking a lot about this workbook. What should it include? What would its purpose be? Will it help others strengthen their relationship with the Savior, their spouse, their family, and those they serve? I have prayed to know the answer to these and many other questions.

Slowly, but surely, this workbook is coming together. My hope is that this little creation of mine will aid you in your journey to seek Christ. That it will help you strengthen your relationships.

This started out as a project for those attending the SEEK retreat, but I realized that I had the ability to create something for anyone to use whether they attended or not.

I cannot wait until this is complete and in my hands.

I currently serve as the YW secretary in our ward as well as the 2nd Counselor in Stake YW. So many changes have been going on with the youth, at times it’s hard to keep up. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Last week we decided to read over and begin to memorize the new theme for our Wednesday activity.

I realized that before last week I hadn’t really sat down and read and pondered the meaning and messages of the new theme. “I am a beloved daughter of heavenly parents, with a divine nature and eternal destiny.” ❤️ “As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I strive to become like Him. I seek and act upon personal revelation and minister to others in His holy name.” “I will stand as a witness of God at all times and in all things and in all places.” “As I strive to qualify for exaltation, I cherish the gift of repentance and seek to improve each day. With faith, I will strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.” This new theme is so powerful and should be something that all women repeat weekly (or even daily), not just our young women.

Changes can be hard. I was sure they would never get rid of the YW Values, but as I have learned more about the changes and why I have felt peace and am now so ready for this exciting time and changes.

My daughter turns 12 this year. It is so special that we get to learn this theme and program together.

I can't believe the SEEK Retreat is next month. It's exciting and scary all at the same time. I have had plenty of moments of doubt and negative thoughts. But then I'm reminded that this is so needed, that I felt inspired to do this, and as I follow this prompting, things will come together as long as I focus on Christ and make Him the focus.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
The word retreat means a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax. But it also means an act of moving back or withdrawing. This is exactly what I want the SEEK Retreat to be. I want you to come and rest and relax from the craziness of life. I want you to be fed spiritually (and physically 😉). I want you to withdraw from the world and come ready to learn and be touched by the experiences and insight of our amazing teachers. But most of all...I want you to go away from the event with ideas of how you can center your life, your relationships, and your homes on Christ.⁠⠀

Confession...I have not studied or prepared for this special General Conference that President Nelson talked about and invited us to prepare for.⁠

•How would my life be different if my knowledge gained from the Book of Mormon were suddenly taken away? •How have the events that followed the First Vision made a difference for me and my loved ones?⁠

I love that we focus on seeking Christ in four areas: Individually, Marriage, Family, and Service. And I know as we take time to seek Christ in each of these areas we will accomplish our mission.⁠

We are focusing on marriage for our #striveforfivechallenge for the next two weeks. New to our challenge? This is a very simple challenge that we shared with a few months ago.⁠

Improving your life and your relationships isn't something that you can do all at once, we must work on it little by little. The Strive for Five challenge is our way of doing this.⁠

Take 5 minutes every day to SEEK Christ. So, for the next two weeks strive to seek Christ and do something to improve your marriage. Some ideas could include:⁠

•Have daily prayer with your spouse⁠
•Read a General Conference talk and discuss it with your spouse⁠
•Go on a date⁠
•Write a letter to your spouse or send a text⁠
•Make a plan to attend the temple⁠
•Serve your spouse in some way⁠
